Kelty tents are manufactured by a United States company started by a carpenter named Dick Kelty in 1957. Since then, the brand has been considered as one of the top manufacturers of tents of all kinds. The company offers solo, mid-size and large tents that can accommodate a group of four.

Kelty tents feature the company’s patented FlyBoy and Webforce technology. The FlyBoy feature is consist of a patch permanently attached to the fly and a plastic clip that clamps the body, poles and fly together to form a self-reinforcing structure. The feature offers a lightweight solution to one of big tents’ problems; that is, anchoring the rainfly to the underlying poles.

The Webforce technology, on the other hand, is consist of tendons that are continuous pieces of non-stretch material connecting the FlyBoy patches and the tent and rainfly attachments. The combined FlyBoy and Webforce feature creates a tent which is 50 percent stronger than traditional kinds. Moreover, these features do not add unnecessary weight and are estimated to be only two to four oz. in combined weight.

One example of the brand’s solo tents is the Crestone 1. This model is ideal for backpackers since it is very light and is designed for a single person. It has a packaged weight of four lbs. and a floor area of 19 feet. The vestibule area measures seven feet and it has two featherline poles. The wall material is 68D 190T polyester taffeta while the floor is made from 1800mm PU nylon taffeta.

Another popular model under the Kelty brand is Radiant 3. This model can accommodate up to three persons and has a packaged weight of 12 lbs. and six oz. The tent has three DAC Pressfit poles and features two doors. The floor area is 53 feet and the vestibule area measures 23 feet + 23 feet. The wall material of Radiant is 68D 210T polyester ripstop and the floor material is 1800mm PU nylon taffeta.
