What to Look for in Wall TentsWall tents come in various sizes and designs. Some of them are simply walled canopies that provide basic protection to campers, while some have additional features such as awnings, outside cover and flooring. This type of tent, though, is always designed with complete side and roof coverings and is mostly made of tough materials. Traditional wall tents are made of either nylon, cotton or other strong materials and each side is designed to provide complete cover from the wind and the rain. In choosing a model, make sure that the specifications or measurements fit your need. Knowing how many people will be housed inside it is the first step. Choosing the right kind of cloth, one that will fit the kind of weather and environment where the tent is going to be used, is also necessary. For cold weather, it is more prudent to use a cotton canvas instead of nylon since nylon can frost in a cold environment. If you’re going to cook, better choose a cotton tent. Cotton allows the moisture from the stove to pass through, unlike nylon which could melt from the heat emanating from the stove. In terms of color, a white wall canopy is better for those who plan to cook since a white material will reflect the heat from the stove better than dark-colored cloths. It can also gather the heat within the walls and provide warmth to occupants during cold weather. In shopping for a wall camping tent, look for brands that are water, mildew and fire-treated. They might not completely protect you from these elements, but at least they will be made of stronger stuff than ordinary tents. Some brands of wall covers come with additional features such as awnings, rain fly and outside covers. An awning is not a necessity, but it is a feature that can provide campers and users with additional enjoyment since this will allow you to sit outside the tent in the open air but protected overhead from the sun and, just in case – the rain. Awnings are also good in terms of keeping the ultraviolet rays of the sun and the sparks from the stove off the main tent. Wall tents come in various sizes, designs and features. To get one that suits you best, make sure that you know where, who and how many are going to use it. Additional features are good if you really need them, but if the activity and the environment do not call for additional features, then it is better to purchase a simple one and save your money for supplies and other camping needs. |
